1 Dec 2019, 1st Sunday Advent, Cycle A-2020, Is 2:1-5 + Rom 13:11-14 + Mt 24:37-44

Come, let us go up to the Lord’s mountain, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may instruct us in his ways, and we may walk in his paths. for from Zion shall go forth instruction and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem… Come, let us walk in the light of the Lord! (Is 2:3, 5).
Why change? We are born sinners (cf. Ps 51:7). Left on our own, we are wild. Like beasts, we need to be tamed (cf. Jas 3:7). Selfishness is innate so it needs to be reined. Selfishness begets injustice. Injustice begets strife.
On our own, change is difficult. We need the Savior for help. He is the Word of God to the world of man (cf. Jn 1:1). The Word of God is truth and light (cf. Jn 17:17; Ps 119:160). Cast light aside, in darkness evil abides. Cast truth aside, lies come inside. Lies enslave lives. Truth sets us free (Jn 8:32). Free from selfishness and injustice. Free from lies and strife. VSS
