24 May 2020. Ascension of the Lord. Cycle A-2020. Acts 1:1-11 + Eph 1:17-23 + Mt 28:16-20

“Men of Galilee, why are you standing there looking at the sky? This Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven will return in the same way as you have seen him going into heaven” (Acts 1:11).

I am born into this world,
	where I deal with the ideal.
I do not beget the ideal,
	but I promote the ideal.
I do not surpass the ideal, 
	still, I pass on the ideal.
In this world, the ideal, though too high, 
	still, beckons me to aim high.
I may aim high, yet land lower,
	But if I aim lower, I land no higher.
The ideal lifts anyone up Above, 
	where the mere pursuit of the ideal
	bears fruit into eternal life. VSS
